New Year, New Project

It’s been awhile since I have written a new blogpost. A lot has gone on in my life, mainly the passing of my dad in October. This blog has had to take a backseat due to responsibilities placed upon me related to my dad’s passing. There is still much that needs to be done but I have decided to start writing again. Alongside my responsibilities a new project has presented itself; the restoration of something that has been in the family for the better part of 75 years. That something is the Seeburg Trashcan Jukebox 148ML.

Here is a picture of the jukebox where it sat for decades.

My father-in-law, a master mechanic, has volunteered to bring the jukebox back to life. Step 0, get the jukebox off the patio and back to his garage.

This is a picture of my father-in-law and brother-in-law getting the jukebox onto the pickup truck.

In future blog posts I will write about the process of restoring the jukebox. I leave you with 2 more pictures, one showing how dusty and dirty the jukebox was and one 7 days later after my father-in-law had started cleaning it up.

First…what the back of the jukebox looked like when we got it to the garage…

7 days later…after hours of cleaning, inspecting, and testing different parts and mechanisms. Note that in the first picture areas that were caked with black dust or soot are now gone in the second picture.

I’m very optimistic and excited to share the progress of this project. It is my opinion that my dad is happy that we have taken this project on.
